Great news! The hardest part is over.
That's right. You read that correctly.
That's because the hardest part of purchasing insurance for yourself and your family is starting it.
And - because you're here, reading this - you've already done that. You took a few minutes out of your day to put your brain to something that most of us do our best to not think about, ever: the state of our finances.
So, congratulations. If we could shake your hand, we would.
But we can't. So we'll do the next best thing...
A simple "yes" or "no" question.
Let's suppose you only have time to do one thing today re: your finances. (Most people scrolling the internet feel this way.)
If that's the case, and you're not exactly swimming in time, then we would urge you to ask yourself one question:
This may seem simple question. A stupid one, even.
But it's not.
In our world, asking this question is akin to asking someone who is about to head out into a rainstorm, "Do you have an umbrella?"
It's not meant to interrogate. It's not meant to make you feel unsafe. Or lazy. It's not even meant to try to sell you something. It's meant to establish a baseline. To see how protected you are from the slings and arrows of misfortune. To see how you think and/or feel about what's to come, if you think of that at all.
So we return to the question:
If the answer is "Yes!"
We applaud you! Whether you have it through your employer, or purchased it independently - or some combination of the two - having life insurance is the fundamental building-block towards your family's financial stability.
The next step on your Financial Planning Journey is to further protect yourself.
That might be purchasing Disability Income insurance, so that your income can be covered if you were to suddenly become unable to perform your job.
Or, that could be getting Long Term Care Insurance, so that you can afford the costs that come with growing older.
If the answer is "No!"
That's okay! You are not alone. In fact, there are millions of people who are just like you.
Our follow-up question is pretty simple: "Why not?"
When asked, most people give one of three reasons:
All very good reasons.
But we'd guess that you're here because you are tired of feeling like there's something you're not doing. People protect themselves and their familys' futures for good reason.
But you aren't going out into the storm alone. You are going out with your spouse. Or maybe you had kids.
So, now, imagine yourself walking out the door with your spouse and kids, and there's a storm on the horizon, and a chance of rain forecasted, and someone asks you - "Do you have an umbrella?"
That's why you make sure you have life insurance.
